I am just getting started, and alot of photographers are giving the CD's with their entire session fee, however, I have my sights set higher, and don't know if that is the best route. It seems my friends that get the CD's never print the pictures anyway. What do you think?

It seems that most starting out photographers offer the entire CD, while professional studios would never consider it. It's always best to start out where you want to land, so if you don't think you will always give the CD, then don't from the beginning, but offer some screamin specials instead. |

It seems like things are moving toward a middle ground between the "old pro way" (charging for prints) and the rookie method (throwing it all on a CD). I personally think the best approach is to filter the photos, do post-production on the best ones, and then deliver those as a package. I think the concept of charging for prints is obsolete, but it's also amateurish to just give away all the raw, unfiltered photos. |
